Wrightsocks are like a magic trick. They have two thin layers of sock fabric, so instead of the skin of your foot moving against your sock, the two layers move against each other (end to blisters). These socks come in a few thicknesses, heights, styles, and colors. My favorite type is the Coolmesh, their most breathable and lightweight version. I also prefer the tab sock style, which is their no show cut. For shoes that come up higher on the ankle I’ve used the quarter height socks. They felt great, and in the winter I had no gap between my socks and my tights. In the summer you will have a funny tan line, you’ve been warned.
I have worn these socks in just about every type of weather I can think of. I’ve worn these in temps between about 15 and 95 degrees, high humidity, rain, and snow. I once ran a half marathon in a constant downpour, and I had zero blisters.
I really enjoy all the colors options from Wrightsocks. I firmly believe that coordinating sock and shoe colors makes me run faster. I have a lucky pair of socks I reserve for races.
The sticker price on these socks is $14. Based on my lack of blisters, I think they are worth this price. Still, I have spent a lot of time looking for the best deal on these socks. On Amazon there are several listings for the same socks, and the price really varies. Notice that in one listing the size ‘M’ is listed separately than ‘medium’ and selecting each will give you different results and different prices. You can also purchase a two pack on Amazon, sometimes for $28 (no savings) and sometimes for $20.99 (pretty big savings). Since I pay with my Amazon Prime card I get 5% back.
These socks are available on the GoBros website. Right now they are offering 15% off, $11.90 per pair, (the code is HOT15) and they offer free shipping.
REI carries these and they offer 10% off, or $12.60 per pair, when you buy three pairs of socks, but they do charge for shipping on orders under $50.
