Monograms: Not Just for Your Name Anymore

I have very few pieces of clothing with my initials monogrammed on them. When we got married, my husband and I got luxurious bathrobes featuring our (now) same first and last initial. Otherwise, I don’t really seek out opportunities to add my initials to anything.

I bought this purse not that long ago. I see purse shopping as a big investment. If you carry a purse everyday I believe you should “buy it right or buy it twice.” Quality really does last longer. In this case, a friend went with me to the Coach store and after much deliberation I bought this purse. Then the sales associate asked me if I wanted the tag to be monogrammed. To my puzzled look she said “it’s free” then added “you don’t have to use your initials, you could put ‘fun’ or something.” Fun rhymes with run, history is made.

The customer service at my local Coach store is top notch. After one visit I couldn’t decide about a purchase, so I decided to sleep on it. I went back to the store with a card a sales representative had written up with the style and color I was thinking about. I think she got a commission because I received a handwritten note from her in the mail.

Since this experience, I’ve started looking for chances to have other things engraved with “run” but next I might pick “fun.”
