Picky Bar Grain Free Granola: Answer to so many problems

Posted by kari on Sat, Nov 7, 2020

As you may know, I love Picky Bars. They are balanced with carbs and protein for athletes, are certified gluten free, and they are dairy free. I also think the company is just cool. Picky Bars recently started offering grain free granola, and it is awesome!

The Call of the Wild Blueberry (grain-free) granola is straight up genius. They used chickpea flakes instead of oats or other grains. One of the company founders, Steph Bruce, does not eat gluten and also avoids oats (even the gluten free varieties) just like me. I am so grateful to not be the only person dealing with these food issues. I’ve never encountered chickpea flakes in other foods, but they seem like a great solution for a granola texture.

Almond butter, maple, and rosemary give this granola some yummy flavors and low added sugar. I like the taste and texture of the granola in general. I’ve tried this over plain (dairy free) yogurt with honey as breakfast. I am always on the hunt for a breakfast that is low in prep time and high in protein. This granola has 4 grams of protein per serving, and takes less time to throw in a bowl than it takes to eat. I’ve seen reviewers put a serving in milk, and suggesting it would be good on ice cream (can’t wait to try it!).

My incredibly sensitive stomach can’t handle granola before a run, so this is a food I enjoy on a rest day. If you haven’t tried out granola before a run I strongly suggest testing it out before a short and easy run.

So far I’ve only seen this product for sale on the Picky Bars website. A bag with about 2.5 cups of granola is $11.99. You can save buckets by joining their subscription service, the Picky Club. I’ve been a member of the Picky Club for a couple years. It is super flexible. You can schedule orders every 1, 2, or 3 months and you can change that whenever you want (and you get a free shirt with your first order). I added a bag of granola to my last delivery, and since I was saving 30% it was $8.40.

Have you tried out Picky Bar Grain Free Granola? I’d love to hear more recipe ideas.
